Relating back to the quiz question and discussions in class today we can see that food plays a major roll in Like Water For Chocolate and Bet Me, and also in our world of dating today. In "LWFC" food plays a major roll in the life of Tita. It is a way that she can escape from the world when things are not going good and it is something she is good at and enjoys doing. Also, food is looked to as a good thing in the book that allows people to be brought together. In Bet Me, food for Min is looked to as a bad thing. She has very low self esteem until Cal comes along and shows her that it is okay to eat food without feeling bad. So in both books food is used as an object to bring people together.

Relating food to today, it is also something that brings people together. Most people who start dating and who go on dates are more than likely to go out to eat for dinner and a movie. Food is something that is easy to come by and can be of all different costs. Even though its a movie food is allowed to be purchased there. I feel that it is very likely, where anyone goes there is always food of some kind to be purchased.
