Heithcliff, the sociopath

Heithcliff is a very dangerous person. Who I have noticed is the most distructive person in the book. He, in my opinion has been this way even when him and catherine were still young companions in love. He would act out and have premeditated plans to get full revenge. It makes me wonder if it was even good that he got adopted in the family becuase I dont think his intentions were ever good. He is distructive and a sociopath because he is very anti-social and he has no emotion in anyway. He does what he wants with no conscious or social conciquence. This is mainly seen in the Catherine, Linton scene where he takes Cathy beats her, locks her up and then nothing comes from it? I hope in the ending of this book either Heithcliff gets what he deserves, a bad kick of karma. Or Catherine gets her just life style, not one that was forced on her.

  1. Well Heathclif was just brought into the home. Any child who is faced with this would do the same. Im sure he felt so unconfterable. But i think cathy is to blame for the way he acts.

  2. In the beginning of the book Heathcliff was treated horribly by Hindley, and not very well by Nelly either. From the start I've been more on Heathcliff's side because he was treated like dirt. Catherine was the one who wouldn't marry Heathcliff because of his social standing. I think that Catherine was the one who began all of the madness, eventually leading her to her own death.

  3. You are completely right about Heathcliff except for the emotionless part. Since Catherine died he has been nothing but cruel and he just seems like the most miserable person. When they were young though, they spent time together and seemed pretty okay. I think he is just very lost without being able to see Catherine's face due to her death. He's a crazy person now, since he doesn't get to spend time with the love of his life.
